    Tuks Swimming Sattelite Club

    Strength and Conditioning Coach

As a Strength and Conditioning Coach at Tuks Swimming Satellite Club, I worked with a diverse group of athletes, ranging from beginners to elite-level competitors who represent South Africa on the international stage. My role involved designing and implementing individualized gym programs tailored to the specific needs and performance goals of each athlete. Given the limited access to conventional gym equipment, I often had to adapt training programs creatively to ensure we achieve the adaptations we are looking for. In addition to program design, I conducted exercise testing and compiled progress reports to monitor development and inform future training strategies.

I also assist with strength training and program writing for Tuks Swimming. Beyond these roles, I contribute to a range of other duties, including remote programming for private clients, conducting performance testing for both teams and individual athletes, and leading biomechanical analyses for various sports. BSc Sport Science Student

As part of my honors year, I was required to complete 225 hours of work experience, which I fulfilled at the Sport, Exercise Medicine and Lifestyle Institute (SEMLI). The majority of my hours were spent working with the Tuks Football Academy, where I assisted in and led strength and conditioning sessions, monitored athlete load, and supported various testing procedures. In addition to football, I gained valuable exposure to a range of other sports including hockey, rugby, swimming, and tennis. This multidisciplinary experience helped me develop a broader understanding of sport-specific demands and contributed to my growth as a well-rounded and adaptable sport scientist.
