Company Description

Newcastle Basketball is one of the largest Sporting Associations in New South Wales (NSW) and one of the fastest-growing sports in the Hunter Region, with over 5000 registered members. As an affiliated member of Basketball NSW and Basketball Australia, Newcastle Basketball provides an inclusive, safe and friendly environment for participation in a variety of basketball activities.

Newcastle Basketball sees an opportunity to progress the development of our athletes and coaches through the design and implementation of a coordinated athlete development framework from our Mini Hoops all the way up to NBL1.  Although the role will be primarily focused on our representative programs, including the Falcons Academy, junior representative, and senior representative programs, the role will also support our domestic club coaches through the establishment of a coach’s group, scheduling of coaching clinics and courses, and designing club coach focused resources.

The role will include a mix of program design, program delivery, and coach development, with the successful candidate needing to be equal parts competent in coaching and administration.  Weekend work will be a requirement of the role, with our junior representative program operating Sunday mornings from 7.00am-12.00pm for most of the year and occasional attendance at weekend tournaments expected.

The organisation is currently based at Newcastle Basketball Stadium at Broadmeadow, however, we have recently announced funding to build a new 6 court facility with plans to extend to 12 courts pending additional funding.   Once complete, this will position Newcastle Basketball to become the largest basketball association in NSW, and will provide opportunities for increased talent identification and development further establishing Newcastle Basketball as one of the premiere sporting organisations in Australia.
