This is an exciting time at Newcastle United and we are looking for talented individuals to help us on our journey. To help us deliver on our ambitious plans we are looking for a talented Data Scientist to work collaboratively across the football departments to apply data science techniques and support evidence-based decisions to monitor and improve performance.
Working closely with our new Head of Data and Insights you will be responsible for analysing data from multiple sources, such as player tracking data, player event data and player physical data to create predictive models to forecast outcomes and devise strategies.
You will design and support the development of data pipelines, creating bespoke solutions to enable efficiencies in workflows. Working closely with multiple stakeholders to identify data needs you will have the ability to develop interactive visualisations and present data in a meaningful and relevant way.
As such, you will have significant experience in elite sport, with data analysis, machine learning, and data modelling. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL are essential as is knowledge of event and tracking data supplied in football. Previous experience of Snowflake cloud infrastructure or equivalent.
You will also hold a Masters degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field or equivalent.
