The full-time Assistant Physiotherapist is responsible for delivering high quality physiotherapy and rehabilitation support to our women’s tier 2 players as well as our girl’s pathway to ensure optimal injury and medical management. The role focuses on a close collaboration with the wider Science & Medical Team across all squads to maximise provisions to achieve group success.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assessment and rehabilitation of injured women’s and girls’ pathway players under support of the Head of Science & Medicine
- In-season (April-September): Provide match-day and training cover for the tier 2 women’s (both home and away)
- Off-season (October-March): Provide training cover for all tier 2 women’s and girls pathway training sessions
- Assisting with the boys and mens squad as required by the Head of Science & Medicine.
- Report back in a timely manner to HOSSM/wider coaching team on player injuries and prognoses
- With support from the HOSSM, oversee onward referral for investigations and specialist consultations as appropriate, including liaising with medical insurers, medical secretaries and the club doctor (written and verbal communication)
- Assist in the implantation of screening, monitoring and injury prevention programmes, working alongside the HOSSM and Strength and Conditioning Coaches
- Carry out relevant musculoskeletal screening and ongoing monitoring for all Academy and selected Pathway players (with supervision and assistance from wider SSM team)
- Appropriate and accurate record keeping of all physiotherapy interventions and notes on the SmartaBase in keeping with medico-legal requirements
- Recording and collation of all relevant injury data
- General department management and administration
- Work with and support the development of physiotherapy and sports therapy interns
- Perform responsibilities in line with the medical aspects of the ECB Science and Medicine audit with support from the HOSSM and CMO (annual).
- Complete any training modules as required by ECB regulations or CPD
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications: - Registration and current membership with the Health and Care Professions Council and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
- Advanced Life Support/Pitch-side Qualification (possibility of acquiring this through the Club)
- Effective communication skills
- Excellent inter-personal skills
- Post-graduate experience within sport or an equivalent sporting environment
- Holds a CPD portfolio demonstrating a sports medicine/sports physiotherapy bias
- Sports massage and taping qualifications/experience
- Adept in the use of Microsoft Excel and electronic medical databases
