Job Description

The Chicago White Sox are hiring a Director of Strength and Conditioning. This position will require daily interaction with field staff, strength & conditioning coaches as well as other staff and front office members. The purpose of this position is to lead the Chicago White Sox Strength and Conditioning Department in education, communication and implementation of performance programs, core initiatives and assessments for major and minor league players. Lead and excel in the development of staff and objectively demonstrate marked improvement in player performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively within the Sports Performance Department in the disciplines of Sports Science, Performance Nutrition, Mental Performance, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Training to develop holistic athlete centered programs
  • Assess and identify current and future initiatives to enhance and maximize human performance
  • Conduct assessments to monitor and individualize player programs
  • Assist with rehab and return to play progressions within the weight room and on field activity
  • Assist in creating data and research driven implementations that bridge the gap from the training room into the weight room
  • Provide education to staff of how we utilize in-season testing and off-season needs to enhance player development
  • Conduct bi-weekly player contacts to ensure their off-season periodization/ program is being completed
  • Engage in offseason continuing education to enhance performance department collaborative education
  • Provide off-season staff initiatives and evaluations to enhance growth within our organization
  • Lead off-season specialty camps

Qualifications:

  • Experience in professional baseball preferred
  • Passionate about the game of baseball and enhancement of associated players
  • Previous experience working in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, Master’s degree preferred (exercise science, physical education, biomechanics) and currently a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS-NSCA)
  • Fluent in Spanish highly recommended but not required
  • Excellent written, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Independent judgment and ability to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload
  • High level of interpersonal skills; must have the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Interest and/or understanding of player development and baseball analytics
  • Ability to understand and advocate for changes due to new information and/or tools in baseball
  • Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with the rehab process
  • Previous experience leading staff
