About the Role

The Sport Performance Manager leads essential operational aspects of USA Weightlifting’s high performance program. They are responsible for assisting in developing, executing, and enforcing program policies and protocols; proactively managing a programmatic budget; partnering with other members of the Sport Performance team to create operational documents such as High Performance Plans and Selection Procedures; tracking outcomes and key results (OKRs); producing athlete rankings and performance statistics; assisting in developing public-facing communications and presentations regarding USAW’s National Team Program and other high performance initiatives; and other operational tasks and projects as needed to support USAW’s Sport Performance  Department and National Team Program.

Reports to: Senior Director of Sports Performance

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The person filling this role will spend the majority of their time supporting the Senior Director of Sport Performance and the National Team Operations Lead in all aspects of operating the High Performance Department including but not limited too:

  • Assists in the development, creation, and presentation of key departmental operating policies including:
    • Yearly High Performance Plan
    • Selection Procedures
    • National Team Policies
  • Monitoring and managing departmental budget:
    • Tracking Monthly department expenses
    • Directly managing aspects of Athlete Support Funding and Qualified Performance Expenses associated with the National Team Program
  • Tracking and reporting on departmental outcomes and key results
  • Statistical analysis:
    • In cooperation with National Team Operations Lead, creating and tracking international team athlete rankings
    • In cooperation with National Team Operations Lead, creating and tracking National Team Program athlete rankings
    • Creating and tracking international yearly and overall team results in key areas such as medals earned, and medals per athlete
    • Developing new statistical analysis associated with Sport Performance
  • Participate periodically in Sport Performance events:
    • National Team camps and clinics
    • Visits with outside constituents such as colleges and universities
    • Supporting team operations at international competitions
    • Supporting organizational operations at domestic national events

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience with development and execution of operational policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, anticipate needs, and exercise sound independent judgement
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills (both Mac and PC) with emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite
  • Commitment to athlete safety, ethical conduct in sport and anti-doping
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally
  • Background check, U.S. Center for SafeSport certification and U.S. Anti-Doping education required upon employment

Preferred:

  • Project management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, Health and Human Performance, or related field
  • Experience working in a high-performance sport administration role
  • Sport performance data collection and analysis
  • Experience managing budgets

Job Type: Full-time exempt position
