The New York Yankees are looking for an Athletic Trainer for our Player Development Complex in Tampa, FL. This position supports the delivery of comprehensive rehabilitation, injury prevention, and return-to-play programs for professional baseball players in collaboration with medical leadership.

This position provides advanced clinical exposure within a high-performance professional baseball environment. Opportunities for expanded responsibility may develop over time through increased collaboration with medical, performance, and player development leadership, based on experience, performance, and organizational needs.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of consistent rehabilitation standards, philosophies, and clinical processes within the organizational environment.
  • Provide hands-on rehabilitation services for injured athletes from both major and minor league levels while based at the Player Development Complex in Tampa, FL.
  • Develop, implement, and progress individualized rehabilitation and return-to-play programs for players recovering from injury or surgical intervention under the direction of medical and performance leadership.
  • Collaborate with athletic trainers, team physicians, physical therapists, strength and conditioning staff, sport science, mental skills and performance staff, nutrition, and player development personnel to deliver an integrated, player-centric care model.
  • Contribute clinical input and objective data to return-to-play discussions in collaboration with medical leadership.
  • Assist in injury prevention initiatives, physical therapy evaluations, movement assessments, and program modifications based on objective and subjective findings.
  • Utilize objective performance metrics and rehabilitation benchmarks to help guide progression and contribute clinical input to inform readiness to return-to-play discussions in collaboration with medical leadership.
  • Maintain thorough, accurate, and timely medical documentation, including daily treatment notes, physician correspondence, and all required sports within the electronic medical record.
  • Uphold and enforce athletic training room policies, clinical standards, and facility organization to ensure a safe, professional treatment environment.
  • Assist in coordinating off-season and in-season rehabilitation programs in collaboration with strength and conditioning staff.
  • Assist the Medical Coordinator with administration and documentation of required drug testing for players completing rehabilitation in Tampa, FL, in accordance with league and organizational policies.
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities, medical symposiums, and professional development activities that enhance organizational best practices.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and clear communication in high-pressure and time-sensitive situations.
  • Support daily facility operations, including treatment area readiness, equipment maintenance, and hydrotherapy/recovery modality oversight.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must be a Licensed Certified Athletic Traner (ATC)
  • Strong commitment to excellence, consistency, and high professional standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of baseball-specific injury mechanisms, biomechanics, rehabilitation, and performance demands.
  • Ability to synthesize clinical expertise with performance data to inform clinical decision-making.
  • Exceptional organizational, documentation, and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to lead and influence within a multidisciplinary performance team.
  • Clear appreciation for professional baseball culture and player development philosophy.
  • Demonstrated interest in professional growth within sports medicine, rehabilitation, or performance environments.
  • Prior professional or high-level sports experience (collegiate)
  • Experience working in progressional baseball or elite athletic environments
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • CSCS or RSCC preferred
