Job Description

The Yale Athletics Fellowship Program’s purpose is to engage and cultivate young professionals interested in working in college athletics. The positions will provide Fellows the opportunity to work in one of the world’s most prestigious collegiate athletic programs at Yale University. Fellows will gain integral skills within their specific department, industry knowledge, and career development advice and support. This position will best serve college graduates or entry-level young professionals looking for their first full-time opportunity in the collegiate athletic landscape.

Roles and Responsibilities

Fellowships are paid fixed duration non-benefit flexible hour positions. Fellows will support one of the following Yale Athletic Departments:

  • Campus Recreation
    • Gain hands-on experience in multiple aspects and areas of Campus Recreation including Operations, Aquatics, Intramurals, and Marketing.
    • Engage with the diverse campus community, building relationships and gaining experience with various groups and perspectives.
    • Lead the training and development of staff in various programs, ensuring team members are confident and knowledgeable.
    • Enhance departmental systems, policies, and procedures by identifying areas for improvement and developing practical, lasting solutions.
    • This candidate must be certified in Lifeguarding from the Red Cross (or equivalent) or willing and able to obtain certification following hiring.
  • Game Day Event Management
    • Assist the Athletics Event Management team with the management of Yale’s 35 varsity sports.
    • Assist and communicate with visiting teams and officials in the lead-up to and on game day.
    • Oversee part-time athletic event staff and contracted security with scheduling and deployment on game days.
    • Schedule student workers for all home athletic events.
  • Ticketing
    • Gain exposure to all aspects of athletic ticketing from day-to-day operations to game day management.
    • Work alongside student and casual staff, including but not limited to work allocation, training, upholding internal procedures, and problem solving.
    • Provide high-quality customer service through various communication channels, including phone, email, and face-to-face interactions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Interest in working in college athletics
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Must hold or be on track to graduate with a bachelor’s degree before the start of this position
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and have a car to travel to multiple events and facilities
  • Fellows may be expected to assist nights, weekends, and holidays
  • This position is in-person in New Haven, Connecticut
