Position Summary:
As an integral member of the Seattle Kraken Sports Medicine staff, the therapist will be responsible for optimizing player health, recovery, and performance through soft tissue and manual therapy techniques. The therapist will collaborate closely with the athletic trainers, massage therapist, team physicians, strength conditioning, dieticians, and coaches to deliver individualized care. Success in this role demands clinical experience, adaptability, the ability to perform under pressure within a team first environment, dedicated to maximizing player availability.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining general health and safety of the Team’s professional hockey players through implementation of injury prevention and recovery strategies.
- Report any and all information regarding player health and wellness directly to the Head Athletic Trainer in a timely manner.
- Coordinate ordering, stocking, and packing of medical supplies for practices, games, and travel, along with general athletic training room upkeep.
- Assist in daily operations, clinical evaluations, and ancillary healthcare provider scheduling as required.
- Share in select administrative duties at the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer, including timely, accurate input of all player electronic medical records into the Athlete Health Management System.
- Collaborate with Team physicians, staff athletic trainers and massage therapist, and appropriate associated personnel to direct and implement current rehabilitation programs and appropriate interventions for long term injuries and post-surgical cases.
- Attend all Team summer development camps and fall training camps.
- Diligently discharge all duties in good faith, including additional duties as appropriately assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer in accordance with established medical standards for the care of NHL players.
- Assist the Management Team as needed
- Use best efforts to promote the interests and goodwill of the Company’s business.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Understanding of standard of care for professional athletes.
- Maintain qualifications in good standing, outlined by the State of Washington to be licensed as an eligible physical therapist or massage therapist.
- Licensed or eligible by the State of Washington as a physical therapist or massage therapist
- Have at least 2 years of experience treating professional athletes.
- Experienced skill set in manual therapy.
- Physical Therapist Applicants must:
- Have at least one advanced level soft tissue management certification (e.g., ART, STECCO Fascial Manipulation, Neurofunctional Microconditioning, Instrument Assisted Fascial Manipulation, or equivalent).
- Hold certification to dry needle in the State of Washington.
- Willing to pursue board certification in Orthopedic (OCS) or Sports (SCS) Physical Therapy.
- Hold current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Current professional CPR and AED certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified as an Athletic Trainer in good standing with the National Athletic Trainer Association Board of Certification (BOC)
- Licensed or eligible by the State of Washington as an athletic trainer

- Compensation:
- In accordance with Washington’s Equal Pay Act, the expected salary range for this position is $105,000 – $125,000 annually. Actual base pay will depend on employee’s experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Working Conditions:
- This role is based on-site in Seattle, WA and requires work to be performed in person.
- Travel Required (10-20% travel): Travel to all games, including international trips. Trips will require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required.
- Frequent bending, lifting 20+ pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building including inclines and stairs.
