    Assisting Sports therapist

    During my placement with the Leeds Beckett Rugby Union first XV, I have supported the lead therapist. Through injury prevention with the use of taping pre-match of locations such as the ankle, acromioclavicular support, and MCL support at the knee. Also supporting pitch-side home and away, experiencing dealing with trauma to the cranium and MCL tears. Observing injury assessments and rehab sessions of injuries, including syndemosis sprains and hamstring sprains, ranging from grade 1-3. This experience has improved skills such as taping, my injury assessment process, decision-making during the matches, and communication with coaches and the overall MDT.

    Sports Therapy Placement

    Through this placement, I have experienced new manual therapy techniques, observed the use of shockwave, and learned when to use it. Observing pre-season testing, including MSK assessments, strength testing through the use of a forceframe, and cognitive testing, has improved my knowledge of pre-season testing and why it’s so important. Throughout the season, there were injuries such as PCL tears requiring lengthy rehabilitation plans and good player management, improving my communication with players dealing with bad news.
