    The Tasmania Jewels are an Australian professional basketball team based in Hobart, Tasmania. They compete in the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL).

    Foundation: The club was awarded the WNBL’s ninth license in August 2025 and officially unveiled its name and branding on December 1, 2025.

    The Name Origin: The name “Jewels” is a direct cultural counterpart to the state’s men’s NBL team, the Tasmania JackJumpers. In nature, the “Jewel” refers to the Queen Ant, who leads the jackjumper ant colony.
