Overview
The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, Football will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of a Strength & Condition program designed to maximize the athletic development of our football student-athletes. This will include the research, planning, implementation, and evaluation of our lifting and running programs.
The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, Football is responsible for supporting the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Football by coaching student-athletes, monitoring athletes’ physical progress, overseeing the discipline and conduct of the athletes. This position reports to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Football.
Responsibilities
- Emphasized involvement in “Return to Play”.
- Support the nutrition staff in their mission of educating and implanting individualized interventions.
- Support the Mission and Core Values of the Department.
- Mentor, supervise and train graduate assistants and interns in strength and conditioning.
- Responsible for full compliance with University, Department, Conference and NCAA regulations.
- Carries out effective and proven methods of injury prevention and rehabilitation.
- Develops student-athletes through safe, proven and effective teaching, training and coaching.
- Provide ongoing support and mentoring of other staff.
- Drive student athletes to appoinments or pick up nutritional items.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This position will also act as a liaison within other units of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Utah State, as well as with the Cache Valley and Utah State University communities. The position will engage in activities outside of the weight room.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Advanced level – three years of relevant experience working with Division 1 Football players.
- Current National Strength and Conditioning Association certification (CSCS) or (CSCCA).
- Familiarity with the Olympic Lifts.
- Familiarity with demonstrating and coaching sprint mechanics.
- Knowledge or interest in gaining knowledge about the Rehab process.
- Knowledge or interest in gaining knowledge about Sports Nutrition.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to complete the university defensive driver training within 90 days of employment and maintain good driving standards throughout employment with the Athletic Department.
