Watford Football Club has a Performance Analyst Internship position available for the 2026/2027 football season. The successful applicant will work closely with the first team and reporting into the analysis department, you will learn and develop within a fast pace and at times, demanding elite environment. The usual place of work will be at Watford Football Club Training Ground based in London Colney, and on occasions Vicarage Road Stadium.

This role would suit current undergraduate & master’s students studying a sports analysis or equivalent degree and are looking for a work placement opportunity as part of their course within the field of performance analysis. (Please note we cannot accept applicants who have already finished or are finishing their studies in the summer of 2026).

The position will be full-time, however working hours will vary depending on the fixture list of all teams, with evening and weekend hours sometimes required. The internship will be unpaid; however, expenses will be covered.

Applicants should ideally live locally in Watford, London Colney or the surrounding areas and be a UK resident or non-UK resident with a valid UK work/study permit.

Your internship duties will consist of:

  • Filming and capturing games, training and other content including individual training
  • Assisting with daily workflow as well as supporting training and match day analysis
  • Supporting all aspects of pre & post-match team and individual analysis

You must have:

  • A passion for football
  • Studying towards a degree in sport science, performance analysis and/or an equivalent degree, with a placement year required as part of the course
  • Understanding of coaching, football tactics & game management and talent ID
  • Must be able to commit to the position for the entire 2026/2027 season
  • Full UK driving licence or ability to travel to various locations due to the demands of the internship
  • Understanding of the Clubs commitment to EDI & Safeguarding

As a regulated activity provider and as part of the short-listing process we may:

  3. If your application is successful be required to obtain a DBS disclosure at the appropriate level (role dependant)
