The role in brief:
We are looking for a highly motivated physical performance coach to join our athlete health and development team. Under the leadership of the Physical Performance Lead, you work as part of the team to deliver elite level individualised physical performance coaching for our players to allow them to perform at their best.
The Details:
- Based at Surrey Sports Park, but happy to travel nationally and internationally as required.
- 2 year fixed term contract
- Will be required to work regular weekends.
- Reports to the Physical Performance Lead
The Responsibilities:
- Support in the development and delivery of individualised S&C programmes for our first team players.
- Support the planning and delivery of all pitch and gym-based sessions in line with the season/programme requirements.
- Support the delivery of pre-season and in-season physical testing/retesting for strength, power, speed, movement and endurance capabilities.
- Conduct physical assessments evaluating the physiological readiness status of individual players.
- Assist with individual & team-based recovery sessions.
- Work as part of the MDT team to ensure the best performance and personal outcomes for all players.
- Work closely with the medical team to mitigate injury risk through effective screening, profiling and injury reduction strategies
- Provide data and insights as required to support data driven insights.
- Provide detailed progress reports for players as required
- Support in the delivery of every aspect of planning and preparing sessions- including filling drinks bottles, preparing and tidying equipment including keeping the gym organised.
- Pack and prepare kit and equipment for team travel.
The Experience, Qualifications and Skills needed:
- An undergraduate degree (or equivalent qualification) in Strength & Conditioning or a related field. MSc in a related field in addition desirable.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Strength & Conditioning within elite academy and/or first team environments.
- Knowledge across all areas of athletic performance.
- Ability to use, monitor and make decision from GPS, force plates and other profiling and testing hardware to effectively monitor athletic performance qualities of athletes.
- Knowledge of, and experience in, working with athlete management systems and performance software.
- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Well organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Forward thinking, with the ability to anticipate & plan for all eventualities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Established coaching skills across all areas of athletic performance, including but not limited to Speed, Power, Conditioning, Strength, and Return to Play
- Curious, with a strong drive for continued professional development.
- Valid UK driving license
