Who are we hiring?
The Kansas City Current is seeking a Strength & Conditioning Coach for a paid fellowship position for immediate assistance during the 2026 NWSL season. This role is designed as a professional development opportunity, aimed at advancing knowledge and applied skills in athletic performance. The selected candidate will play an active role supporting the club’s first and second team sports performance environment.
This fellowship provides hands-on experience within an integrated High-Performance model, offering exposure to a fast-paced, collaborative, and interdisciplinary setting. The role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to and learn from a high-level performance environment while directly impacting professional women’s soccer in Kansas City. The Kansas City Current is committed to fostering a culture of growth, collaboration, and continuous learning to support the development of future practitioners.
This position is designed for an individual actively pursuing a career in professional women’s soccer, and is designed to last through the 2026 calendar year.
What will you do?
The individual must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the essential functions of the role. Regular attendance and adherence to scheduled working hours are required. Due to the nature of professional sports, this position requires flexibility, including evenings, weekends, and matchdays.
- Serve as a developing strength and conditioning coach and sport scientist within a high-performance team environment.
- Assist primarily in the weight room with the Kansas City Current’s first and second teams, supporting strength and power development, speed and movement coordination, pre-training preparation, and recovery protocols.
- Work under the direction of the Kansas City Current Performance Staff and report to the Director of Sports Performance.
- Assist in the implementation and management of athlete monitoring technologies, including GPS systems, force plates, and strength dynamometry equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional training environment.
- Assist with training sessions and matchday coverage as needed.
- Travel may be required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Represent the Kansas City Current in a professional manner at all times.

Licenses & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Must possess or be actively pursuing the CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) or a similar qualification (i.e. CSCCa: SCCC, NASM: PES).
Special requirements of the Job:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of weekends, nights (event evenings & overnight operation shifts) and holidays.
- Ability to monitor company communications and respond to time-sensitive matters with senior executives.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move around the venue for extended periods of time, often during events or facility setup and breakdown.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed for event setup, equipment management, or assisting with operational needs.
- Requires occasional bending, squatting, and reaching overhead to handle various tasks related to facility management, equipment, and event preparation.
- Must be capable of working in physically demanding environments, including navigating stairs, ramps, and elevated platforms during venue conversions.
- Ability to work outdoors continuously for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
