Job Description

Are you an experienced and motivating coach who understands the life-changing impact sport can have on recovery, confidence, and wellbeing?

We are looking for passionate and committed Assistant Coaches to join Team UK and help deliver an outstanding sporting and recovery experience for competitors preparing for the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027.

Working closely with Lead Coaches, fellow coaching staff, and the RBL Recovery Services Team, you will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of sport-specific training and competition programmes. You will play a key role in ensuring sessions are safe, inclusive, engaging, and delivered to the highest standard.

Please note that the Assistant Coach role does not include attendance at the Invictus Games. Individuals in this role will provide essential support during the preparation and training phases leading up to the Games but will not be part of the travelling team.

This is far more than a coaching opportunity. It is a chance to be part of a unique and inspiring journey, supporting wounded, injured and sick serving personnel and veterans as they harness the power of sport to aid recovery, build resilience, and achieve their goals.

We are looking for two Assistant Coaches to support the delivery of the following sports:

  • Archery
  • Athletics
  • Cycling (Road)
  • Indoor Rowing
  • Pickleball
  • Powerlifting
  • Sitting Volleyball
  • Swimming
  • Wheelchair Basketball
  • Wheelchair Rugby

Please ensure you submit a supporting statement as part of your application to be considered for this role, this will be used alongside your CV to assess your suitability against the job description and person specification. Please refer to the attached job description for the list of dates of events and training camps you will be required to attend. We would also ask that you include in your supporting statement any dates that you are unable to attend.

RBL is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive organisation, reflecting the diversity of the armed forces community and of wider society. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and personal characteristics.
