Job Description

The Strength Coach will be responsible for the design and implementation of training protocols for the assigned teams and athletes.

Responsibilities & Duties Design and implement training protocols for the assigned teams and athletes Assist the athletic training staff in rehabilitation and injury prevention as needed. Supervision of the workout sessions for each team. Instruction of proper techniques for strength and conditioning. Supervision of any weight room employees (this may include graduate assistants or student workers) Make recommendations for the purchase of new equipment. Responsible for arranging for maintenance and repairs of the weight room equipment. Ensure safe operation and professional supervision of the strength conditioning facility. Assist the athletic training staff in rehabilitation and injury prevention as needed. Other duties as assigned.

As a member of the Murray State University Athletics Department, you shall comply with all applicable NCAA rules and regulations as provided in the NCAA Division I Manual. If you are found in violation of NCAA regulations, you shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures, including suspension without pay or termination of employment for significant or repetitive violations.

Minimum Education Requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree is required.
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements
  • Must have valid applicable certification per NCAA guidelines.
  • Have the ability to work well with students, faculty, community, and media.
  • Have demonstrated understanding and strong commitment to cultural diversity.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Have strong leadership skills.
  • Have strong organizational skills.
Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications
  • Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credentials preferred.
  • At least one year of full or part-time strength and conditioning coach experience at the collegiate level is preferred.
